Zum Hintergrund: Red Hat hat auf seinem letzten US-Summit die Version 3.1.3 von Red Hat Gluster Storage vorgestellt. Die neue Storage-Lösung, die laut Anbieter im Laufe diesen Sommers verfügbar sein wird, wurde integriert mit der Red Hat OpenShift Container Plattform (früher OpenShift Enterprise) und unterstützt das konvergente Deployment von Applikationen und Storage. Dadurch entfällt auch die Notwendigkeit, einen unabhängigen Storage-Cluster vorzuhalten. Für Betreiber soll dies mit einer größeren Effizienz und Kosteneinsparungen verbunden sein.
