Zum Hintergrund: EMC und VMware haben heute angekündigt, eine neue Geschäftseinheit für Cloud Services der EMC Federation zu bilden. Unter der Marke Virtustream sollen die Cloud-Kompetenzen von EMC und VMware sowie das bestehende Cloud-Angebot von Virtustream gebündelt werden. Virtustream soll zu je 50 Prozent EMC und VMware gehören. Rodney Rogers, CEO von Virtustream, wird die neue Geschäftseinheit leiten. Die Parteien sind derzeit dabei, eine verbindliche Vereinbarung über die Transaktion zu finalisieren. Die Geschäftsergebnisse von Virtustream werden danach ab Q1 2016 mit dem Geschäftsbericht von VMware konsolidiert.
